ALISON CHAMBERS - EQUINE THERAPIST

OCTOBER 2006 - CHAMPION RIDER BRINGS HER COUNSELING AND HORSE TALENTS TO HOPE HILL
Alison Chambers is fulfilling a dream; a dream to use her God given gifts, education and talents to help children who have no other hope. Combining her training as a counselor gained from her degree work at Transylvania University and enough championship trophies to fill a barn (they do), Alison is sharing her gifts with children who have never had an opportunity like this. "Many of these girls have never even touched a horse until now," she said. "It's truly an experience they would have never had without this program and I'm incredibly blessed to be a part of it."
Alison, who has been riding horses since the age of five, won the 2005 and 2006 Mountain Pleasure World Ladies Championship and was the 2005 KMSHA Champion in the five and older Park Stallions competition. Her riding experience, along with her counseling expertise (she's also currently working on earning her Master's teaching certificate at Morehead State University) makes her uniquely qualified to lead the girls at Hope Hill through the Equine Therapy Program.
Alison and her husband Charles, who attend the Mt. Sterling Church of God, own their own equine training facility near Hope Hill's campus . "The Kentucky Mountain Horses are referred to as the poor man’s breed in Kentucky, but they are perfect for the program because they are so gentle as compared to thoroughbreds," she said.
Alison originally became involved at Hope Hill as a Case Manager in 2005. And now that she's helping to launch this unique and exciting program. She hopes those who have supported Hope Hill over the years will help contribute to the longevity of this program as she is able to work only through donated funds.
